Nyck AI Wins First Place at Northwestern's 2025 Jumpstart Demo Day

On August 27, 2025, Nyck AI won first place and a $10,000 prize at Northwestern University's Jumpstart Demo Day, hosted by The Garage. Nyck competed alongside 10 other startups in the program, presenting its vision for automating business procurement using artificial intelligence.

The award marked an early milestone for Nyck, an AI procurement startup founded by Northwestern students to help small and mid-sized businesses automate time-consuming purchasing workflows.

Building a Better Way to Manage Procurement

Nyck was developed around a problem common to manufacturers and distributors: purchasing teams spend hours each week manually checking inventory, calculating purchasing needs, creating purchase orders, and emailing suppliers.

These tasks become especially challenging in food manufacturing and distribution, where fluctuating demand, supplier lead times, and inventory shelf life can make purchasing decisions more complicated.

Nyck uses AI to bring purchasing information together and automate workflows, including demand forecasting, purchase order calculations, and supplier communication. The goal is to help businesses make more accurate purchasing decisions while reducing the administrative work required to manage their supply chains.

Recognition at Northwestern's Jumpstart Accelerator

The Garage's Jumpstart program provided participating student startups with 10 weeks of mentorship, workshops, and support to develop their businesses.

For Nyck's co-founders, Marc Davis and Dániel Sütheő, winning first place represented an important recognition of the team's work and vision. The achievement brought attention to Nyck within Northwestern's entrepreneurial community and highlighted its approach to addressing longstanding challenges in business procurement.
